Black Dog Coffeehouse, Lenexa, KS (4/15/05)

The Black Dog Coffeehouse marked the site of a couple of milestone events for the Monks.  The show was Pond Monkeys' first in Lenexa, KS.  It was also the band's first extended acoustic set.   The band performed a stripped down setlist consisting of old and new tunes, as well as covers of Grandaddy and Green Day's "She."  Despite the initial awkwardness of the relatively subdued performance, the intimate venue provided the boys with the opportunity to show off their mature side.  Before the night ended, Alex and Derek plugged in their electric guitars and Austin and Daniel let loose on drums and bass for a rocking finale of "Play" and "Backdoor To Heaven" from 2005's Breathing Buildings.
